Papers On Engineering Subject

Introduced in August 1920, Papers on Engineering Subjects was created with the aim to bring to the notice of Engineer Officers engineering information, not otherwise generally available to them, thought likely to prove of value and assistance in carrying out their official duties. It allowed descriptions of the latest developments of main propulsion and auxiliary machinery to be shared, along with experience obtained during it's operation. Focus was given to the particulars of materials, fuels and manufacturing methods, together with the results of important trials and of engineering research carried out under Admiralty direction or elsewhere.

Papers on Engineering Subjects was superseded by the Journal of Naval Engineering in 1947.

This historical archive is maintained by the IMarEST as a record of this period of Royal Navy engineering history, with kind support from BMT.

BMT is a maritime-orientated high-end design house and technical consulting firm.
