000007593 520__ $$aThis paper presents the findings of an extensive literature review conducted by the authors to elucidate the main aspects to be considered in the selection of rules, standards, and regulations in Naval Projects, as the difference between military and commercial standards, the implications of the use of COTS, and the close relationship between the standards and requirements. Finally, some insights and lessons learned from the harmonisation process carried out by for the design process of the Colombian Navy warships are provided.
