Many vessels are under retrofit to integrate onboard Energy Storage System (ESS), necessitating the redesign of the controllers and developing algorithms to improve the vessel efficiency. Operator Training Simulators (OTS) have been developed and manufactured in several industries and have been used for decades. However, the current OTS development method incurs a lot of cost and time to develop retrofitted OTS for the controller that has changed and applied new technologies and algorithms. To develop an OTS that can be flexibly modified for changing the controller of an existing ship, the controller logic, modeling of the physical system, communication protocol, and GUI-based HMI should be compatible and consist of reusable model building blocks. In this paper, the logic for each part is designed as a subdivided module, and these modules are made into reusable blocks. As a proof of concept, the OTS for the power management system of an existing LNG carrier ship is developed with the model building blocks and the test results of the main functions of the PMS are presented. 000010714 542__ $$fCC-BY 000010714 6531_ $$aRetrofit 000010714 6531_ $$aOTS 000010714 6531_ $$aPMS 000010714 6531_ $$aDigital Twin 000010714 6531_ $$aMarine Control Systems 000010714 6531_ $$aSustainable Marine Power Systems 000010714 7001_ $$aJeon, H$$uNorwegian University of Science and Technology 000010714 7001_ $$aNguyen, DT$$uNorwegian University of Science and Technology 000010714 7001_ $$aZadeh, M$$uNorwegian University of Science and Technology 000010714 773__ $$tConference Proceedings of iSCSS 000010714 773__ $$jiSCSS 2022 000010714 85641 $$uhttps://www.imarest.org/events/category/categories/imarest-event/international-ship-control-systems-symposium-2022$$yConference website 000010714 8564_ $$94f6e761b-4da2-42b9-9aaf-2340dbb2c9e6$$s1561078$$uhttps://library.imarest.org/record/10714/files/10714.pdf 000010714 980__ $$aConference Proceedings
